Skills you’ll learn:
- How to butcher and break down a deer step-by-step
- Understanding different cuts of venison and their uses
- Traditional preservation techniques including curing
- How to utilise the whole animal:

You’ll also sample a range of prepared venison products and take some meat home to continue experimenting yourself.

Along the way, Zeki Basan will share stories and traditional knowledge, revealing how these species have been used for food, medicine, tools and everyday living.
What to expect:
- Identification of seasonal wild foods and edible plants
- Understanding the nutritional value of spring growth
- Insights into how our ancestors used and valued these plants
- Stories, folklore, and cultural connections to the land
- A relaxed, engaging walk through the surrounding glen
This experience offers a deeper understanding of the land beneath your feet, revealing how the natural world has sustained people for generations.
"I aim to hold on to the ancient skills and craft that were once part of everyday life and to this day can give us a greater understanding and respect of the environment around us."
- Zeki
